From the author: Hi, folks! This is a scenario I imagined between two friends talking about engagement plans while eating pizza. Thursday Prompts officially starts today.
Sarah pursed her lips disapprovingly when Josh took another slice of pizza; while his free hand kept on slowly scrolling down on the phone screen.
The two of them were sitting in front of each other at the 8-seater dining table.
"We'll go here. On the next day, we'll visit the—" Josh muttered while having this look of excitement.
"Ahem", she coughed quite loudly.
Josh looked up at her with wide eyes and took a big bite out of the pizza.
"Yew ol rayt, S?", he asked, while chewing.
Sarah sighed. She was confused at herself for having a best friend like this.
"Why don't you eat? The pizza's great," Josh said while pushing the box towards her.
"Aren't we gonna talk?", she asked while ignoring his suggestion.
"Talk about what?" he wondered out loud.
"My God, J," she said as she rolled her eyes.
"I thought we were gonna talk about your engagement plans. You know—ring, fireworks, kneeling on the floor—stuff like that?"
"Oh yeah, everything's great but you already knew that," he muttered as he took another bite of the pizza.
"We've been planning it for months. You were there when we checked everything yesterday!" Josh added hastily when she looked at him with eyes full of distrust.
"You know, not everything's gonna go perfect," she told him while reaching for a slice of pizza.
"What time did Amy tell you to pick her up?", Sarah asked before taking a bite out of the food. Although she did not continue her action when she saw him turn his head towards the bookshelf slowly.
"J, you at least told Amy right?" she asked suspiciously.
"Hey, is that a new book? You’re such a nerd", Josh said playfully.
"J, please tell me that you at least told her", she said exasperatingly, putting down the slice of pizza. She felt like she wasn't hungry anymore and that a headache was coming.
"Tell Amy what? I thought asking her to marry me was a secret?", Josh asked. He looked hurt as if he was a child being accused of doing something wrong.
"You at least told her you're going somewhere for three days right?" she asked dangerously.
"Don't worry. She'll go with me. She's Amy," he puffed out his chest as he said that proudly.
"Josh August Andersen!! You need to tell your girlfriend you're taking her somewhere!", Sarah couldn't take it anymore and stood up as she glared daggers at her best friend.
"She needs to at least pack her things!", she added while looking for her cellphone inside her small pink bag with gold Prada letters printed in front.
"Oh, we'll just buy stuff on the way," he said and motioned his left hand to take another slice of pizza. Sarah grabbed his wrist and put her phone in his palm before he could take another slice.
"Call her and tell her", she said slowly, her eyes full of fury.
"Honestly, S. It's fine. I know her schedule, I'll just ambush her on the way to Business Cla—", he said nonchalantly but Sarah interrupted him.
"You don't kidnap your girlfriend and ask her to marry you!!!!" she screamed frustrated at the psycho she believes to be her best friend.
