Author's Note: Okay, I posted something about Dragon Raja (DR) Sea Club events last week. I realized that I did not include this event, so here it is.
Do you know what I'm tired of seeing when playing this game? There are a lot of events introduced, but not one goddamn thing is useful in explaining how to do the event for the first time. I see some players just leaving their characters somewhere on the map, clicking Autoplay—waiting for the event to be over.
The fact that you're here probably means you don't understand how this event works. Don't bother denying it. All Dragon Raja players have been there—even me. To be honest, some players have been playing for six months yet still don't know how this event works. I should know. In the new club I'm part of right now, the members don't even know there's more to this event than just fighting monster spawns.
“Defend The Boss” is a DR Club event that happens on Saturdays. That’s it. I’m kidding.
Check this out:
These are the instructions given before the event timer starts. For me, it’s enough to understand the instructions above, but not everyone is—well, me. Not to worry, I will be explaining it part by part.
The Story in a Nutshell
Reading the event title, you may easily guess that you need to defend your club leader in this event. Truthfully, it’s just a statue of your leader, with a Health Point (HP) Percentage.
The goal is to prevent the monsters from killing your club leader’s statue. If the HP hits 0%, then you have failed the event. Boom! Event is done. Not really.
I’m saying it right now; I have no idea what happens if you fail the event. My club never failed at this event (thankfully).
We got the goal out of the way. Let's move on to discuss the things that happen during the event.
One of the things you need to know, the only places where the monsters spawn are the three portals and the central fountain. I guess that's four things—you know what? Just read on.
Portals
Most players do not actually know that the three portals have different types. Here's the secret about this event: what players classes you assign on each portal should depend on what type of portal it is.
Magic Resistance (M. Res) Portal
The monsters that spawn within this portal resist magical attacks. Therefore, the M. Res Portal should be guarded by Fighters, Blademasters, and Gunslingers.
Physical Resistance (P. Res) Portal
The monsters that spawn within this portal resist physical attacks. Therefore, the P. Res Portal should be guarded by Reapers, Soul Dancers, and Assassins.
Neutral/Top Portal
The monsters that spawn in this portal don’t have any resistances so you can assign any player class here.
And done. Is that all of it? NOPE. There are still some tiny details.
Switching
I have been in a lot of clubs, and I noticed that not many players don’t notice that the M. Res and P. Res Portal switches at a certain interval. Others say that the switching is random therefore they don’t notice that it has already happened. No! No! No! There is no random switching in this event. News flash, there is a pattern.
Central Fountain and Switching Pattern
To understand the pattern, you need to know one more thing. The central fountain spawns two types of monsters: the wave boss and the horde. Did you get that? I bet you did.
Killing the wave boss is a simple matter because it just stays in the middle of the map. The horde is a problem.
The horde moves toward the club leader’s statue and deals damage. Not a problem? Uh, I think you forgot something. Remember that the goal is to protect the leader and make sure the HP doesn’t drop to zero percent.
There is only one way to easily kill the horde. A way that most players tend to forget about this event—activating the white crystals. Don't believe me? Try it on your next Defend the Boss event. You can slow down the horde by activating the two crystals by the central fountain.
Now here's the important part—the switching. You didn't think I'd forget about that, did you? The portal switch happens whenever you defeat two bosses and two hordes. Remember that only the P. Res and M. Res portals switch places (left and right, vice versa).
Let's recap.
The goal of the event is preventing the leader's HP to drop to zero percent. The portals have some resistances. Therefore, it's important to let certain classes guard a portal depending on which resistance it has. The portals switches at a certain interval. Lastly, to prevent the horde from killing the leader's statue, you need to slow them down by activating the white crystals.
That wasn't so hard was it? I don't know why the game gives very vague instructions. I have to admit, it lets others think about the event some more. However, other players don't have time to do that—except for me. Clearly I have a lot of time at my disposal—NOT.
I am just so sick of being asked over and over again about this event. It's also heart breaking to see that some stronger clubs get stuck on a Platinum II or Diamond I tier because they have no idea how this event works.
They have no clue that the classes are also important in picking a portal to guard. The club members just randomly pick a portal and stay there, waiting for the event to end.
Well, now you know. So give it a go! I hope this helps Dragon Raja players when planning for this event. Good luck, fellow students! Let me know what happens on the comments below!
